The car that had been showcased as the Ford Phoenix (rear-engine, rear-wheel drive) eventually went into production as the Ford Pinto (front-engine, rear-wheel drive).

If the car had been named Phoenix--instead of Pinto--it would've been tragic...as well as ironic.
